Easy Jim brought the 2026 Sunset Concert Series to a close Wednesday evening, August 19, at Sunset Plaza in Mountain Village. The Gunnison and Crested Butte-based band played Grateful Dead favorites as storm clouds gave way to a colorful San Juan sunset.
The free concert was scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., but Easy Jim kept going. An extended encore pushed the final show of the summer to nearly 9 p.m.
The final show of the series drew a large crowd to Sunset Plaza, including plenty of familiar faces from the Telluride area, as well as Crested Butte, Gunnison, Ridgway, Montrose and around the region. Live sound from Rob and Michelle was excellent as always, filling the plaza as the weather cleared and the evening light took over.
The encore continued until about 8:58 p.m., including “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad” followed by “Brokedown Palace.”
While Bob and Phil have left this physical world in “recent times”, their spirit lives on.
